Main Responsibilities:

Technical Support & Troubleshooting:

  • Provide advanced, multi-level technical support for end-users on the Commodities Desk, resolving hardware, software, network, and application-related issues promptly and efficiently.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex problems related to trading platforms, real-time data feeds, market data systems, and proprietary trading applications for precious metals, gas, and power markets.
  • Respond to support requests and incidents via ticketing system, phone, and in-person, prioritizing based on business impact and urgency.
  • Perform root cause analysis for recurring issues and implement permanent solutions.
  • Document all support activities, resolutions, and knowledge base articles.

Commodities Trading Systems Expertise:

  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of the specific IT systems, applications, and infrastructure used by the Commodities Desk, including but not limited to:
  • Trading platforms (e.g., Bloomberg, Refinitiv Eikon, specialized ETRM platforms)
  • Market data providers and associated software (e.g., ICE, CME, LME, NYMEX, Platts)
  • Real-time data feed solutions.
  • Order management systems.
  • Risk management systems relevant to energy and metals.
  • Proprietary in-house developed trading tools.
  • Collaborate closely with traders, desk managers, and business stakeholders to understand their technical needs and challenges.
  • Provide proactive support and guidance on the effective utilization of trading technologies.

Infrastructure Management & Maintenance:

  • Install, configure, and maintain workstations, laptops, and other IT hardware.
  • Manage and support standard and specialized software applications.
  • Assist with network troubleshooting, including LAN/WAN connectivity, VPN, and Wi-Fi issues.
  • Participate in the deployment of new hardware and software, including user acceptance testing.
  • Contribute to system and application patching and upgrades, minimizing disruption to trading operations.

Vendor & Service Provider Management:

  • Liaise with external vendors and service providers to resolve escalated technical issues related to trading platforms, data feeds, and other specialized applications.
  • Track and manage vendor support tickets and ensure timely resolution.

Proactive Monitoring & Improvement:

  • Monitor system performance and proactively identify potential issues before they impact users.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of IT support processes, tools, and documentation.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and efficiency gains within the support function.

Collaboration & Communication:

  • Work effectively with other IT teams (e.g., Infrastructure, Development, Security) to ensure integrated solutions.
  • Communicate technical information clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Provide training and mentorship to junior IT support staff.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in IT support, with a significant focus on financial trading environments.
  • Proven experience supporting users on Commodities Desks, with a strong preference for exposure to Precious Metals, Gas, and Power markets.
  • Hands-on experience with trading platforms, market data terminals, and related financial applications.
  • Familiarity with financial market data providers (e.g., Refinitiv Eikon, Bloomberg, Tradeweb).
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, especially under pressure and with time-sensitive demands.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
