Overview
The Trade Support Specialist will be responsible for providing support to Portfolio Managers and other internal teams, ensuring all trades are captured and affirmed in a timely manner within our books and records. The role will have exposure to a broad range of products traded at Millennium, including interest rate derivatives, credit products, bonds, and FX instruments (both cash and derivatives).
Principal Responsibilities
- Working with Portfolio Managers and other internal teams to automate and streamline existing processes, reduce operational risk and increase the speed and efficiency of the trade capture process.
- Broader T0 tasks: Ensuring that the Middle Office provides timely, best in class service to stakeholders, supporting the business with evolving initiatives and demands.
- Trade Queue: Monitoring and timely clearance of trade exceptions generated by new bookings.
- Middle Office Inboxes: Monitoring and timely resolution of queries from Portfolio Management teams and counterparties.
- Electronic Affirmation: Working with onshore/offshore teams and counterparties to match and resolve economic breaks.
- Non-electronic Affirmation: Ensuring that risk on trades that do not flow through an electronic platform have been appropriately addressed and mitigated.
- T+1 Support: Providing support to remediate issues from the previous day in a timely manner and informing impacted parties.
- Escalation: Escalating process failures or potential issues to relevant stakeholders and senior management.
- Global Model: The MO operates a 'follow the sun' model, so clear communication and handover of tasks and responsibilities to each region is essential.
- Firm Support: While the primary focus is supporting Portfolio Managers during trading, there is a wider responsibility to work with all teams to ensure accurate and timely trade capture daily.
- Improvements and Initiatives: Identify and document pain points and areas of process improvement. Remediate through delivery of initiatives, including stakeholder engagement, business case sign-off, project planning, delivery, and risk escalation.
- Control Focus: Proactively identify, assess and document risks within your area, propose control improvements and provide relevant updates to key partners on progress, through to completion.
Skills And Experience Required
- Minimum 5+ years of experience with traded products, with demonstrated expertise in credit, rates, bonds, and FX markets
- Familiarity with high-paced working environments and strong ability to prioritise multiple deliverables
- Strong market understanding and knowledge of industry and regulatory developments across credit, rates, bonds, and FX
- Ability to balance autonomous work with team collaboration while managing project deliveries alongside BAU requirements
- Excellent interpersonal skills—the role involves daily interaction with senior stakeholders across the firm
- Familiarity with industry standard systems such as MarkitWire, Markit Trade Manager, Bloomberg, and Murex is beneficial.
