Our role

We are looking for a Tech Lead to join the CTRM (Commodity Trading and Risk Management) platform, serving around 650 users across trading, middle office, operations, settlements, and risk functions, covering oil, coal, metals, agricultural commodities, and concentrates.

You will combine hands-on technical ownership of the platform with product responsibilities, reporting to the Symphony Team Lead. You will manage a small team and be the primary technical point of contact with our external vendor. Major delivery/project management is handled by a dedicated Delivery Manager; you own the regular, day-to-day delivery cadence.

You will also play a key role in CTRM's position as a data source for the wider organisation: building and maintaining a clear, global understanding of how other systems consume CTRM data, defending that architecture where needed, while staying adaptive to evolving business requirements.

Role and Responsibilities

• Own regular, day-to-day delivery (bug fixes, small enhancements, projects deliverables and timelines)
• Build and maintain a global view of how other applications and systems consume Symphony/CTRM data, and act as the technical reference point for these integrations
• Own the technical roadmap and architecture direction for the CTRM, working closely with IT teams and business stakeholders across trading, middle office, and risk
• Balance defending sound architectural principles with adapting to business needs on a case-by-case basis
• Drive data analysis, SQL development, and query design against the CTRM database to support business and reporting needs
• Replatform a set of existing services to more recent technologies
• Lead and develop a small team of developers/analysts, including resourcing, coaching, and performance management

- including scaling the team through a nearshore resourcing model for dedicated projects

• Champion the use of AI across the team's ways of working - coding, support investigation, project management, and beyond - with a mindset of experimenting and learning as we go

Skills and Competencies:

• 5–8 years of experience in a technical or techno-functional role, ideally in CTRM/ETRM, finance, or another complex enterprise environment
• Strong SQL/T-SQL skills - comfortable writing and reviewing complex queries against a large relational data model
• Experience working directly with software vendors on technical and delivery topics
• Prior experience leading or mentoring a small technical team
• Familiarity with modern platform/DevOps practices - Kubernetes, orchestration tools (e.g. ArgoCD, Dagster), Kafka, Git, and cloud data warehousing (e.g. Snowflake)
• Comfortable working with APIs and building integration layers on top of vendor-provided services
• Strong communication skills - able to work with both business stakeholders and developers
• Fluent in English
• Fluent with AI tools and genuinely interested in the topic

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in CTRM/ETRM systems is preferred but not necessary
• Experience managing a nearshore team is preferred but not necessary
• Expertise in commodity trading, particularly oil and coal products, is preferred but not necessary
