Why this role
A leading global energy major is moving its North American Power & Gas trading to a modern front-to-back vendor ETRM platform. Desk by desk, its US Power and Gas business is going live on the new system, and that platform will run all of its trading.
We are looking for the person who will
build and lead the support function
for this platform. You won't just be keeping an inherited system running. You will set up the support model, lead a small team, and become the go-to functional expert that traders, risk and operations rely on every day.
What you'll do
- Lead the support function*
- Manage and grow the application support team: priorities, coverage, coaching and day-to-day organization
- Define the support model as new desks go live: SLAs, escalation paths, on-call and knowledge transfer from the implementation team
- Act as the main point of contact for Front Office, Risk, Middle Office and Operations on anything related to the platform
- Be the functional expert in production*
- Own advanced L2 support for incidents that affect trading, from triage to resolution
- Investigate trade lifecycle issues end to end: deal capture and validation, confirmations, scheduling and nominations, P&L and risk breaks, settlements and invoicing
- Run data analysis and reconciliations (SQL) to find the root cause of breaks across the ETRM, risk, accounting and their interfaces
- Lead root cause analysis and put corrective actions in place so issues don't come back
- Work closely with the implementation team (business analysts and developers) as new desks and products move onto the platform
- Support release cycles: UAT, validation and production rollout
- Manage the relationship with the vendor's support team, including tickets, escalations and follow-ups
- Build and maintain runbooks, functional procedures and support documentation
What you bring
- 7+ years in trading application support or as a functional analyst on trading systems, including at least a few years leading people or a support stream
- Strong functional knowledge of the trade lifecycle, front to back
- Experience supporting Energy Trading (Power, Gas, LNG, Oil) or Capital Markets (derivatives, FX, Fixed Income) businesses
- Confidence with traders and senior users, and comfort in a fast-paced, business-facing environment
- Strong ownership and a hands-on approach: you lead the team and you still dig into the data yourself
Nice to have
- Experience with an ETRM/CTRM platform such as Orchestrade, Endur, Allegro, Triplepoint or Aspect
- Knowledge of US Power markets and ISO/RTO operations (ERCOT, PJM, MISO and others) or gas scheduling
- Hands-on SQL and data analysis
- Familiarity with interfaces, APIs and system integrations
- ITIL practices
