Our client is a well-established and growing international oil trading company with operations across physical and paper markets. To strengthen their Risk & Middle Office function in Zug, we are seeking a highly analytical and commercially minded
Risk Analyst / Middle Officer
to support front-office trading activities and ensure robust exposure management across global energy markets.

Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyse daily market, credit, and operational risk exposures across physical and derivatives oil trading portfolios
- Perform daily P&L validation, position reconciliation, and exposure reporting for trading desks
- Ensure accurate valuation and independent risk oversight of trading books, including mark-to-market and VaR reporting
- Partner closely with traders, operations, finance, and compliance teams to resolve discrepancies and improve controls
- Support trade lifecycle monitoring, including deal capture validation, inventory positions, hedging effectiveness, and exposure limits
- Produce management reports and risk analytics for senior stakeholders
- Assist in the enhancement of risk frameworks, reporting tools, and process automation initiatives
- Monitor limit utilisation and escalate breaches or unusual trading patterns where appropriate
- Contribute to process improvements across the middle office and risk infrastructure
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related discipline
- 3–7 years of experience in a
risk, middle office, or trade control function within oil, energy, or commodities trading
- Strong understanding of physical and paper oil products, derivatives, hedging strategies, and risk metrics
- Experience with P&L reporting, position management, exposure analysis, and trade validation
- Strong analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail
- Advanced Excel skills; familiarity with trading/risk systems such as
Endur, Allegro, CTRM platforms, or ETRM systems
is advantageous
- Knowledge of SQL, Python, or data analytics tools would be considered a plus
- Fluent English required; additional European languages are beneficial
