Job Description

Role Summary

AubayUK are seeking an experienced Senior IT Operations Manager – Trading Platforms (Endur Openlink) to hold end‑to‑end accountability for IT operations across a complex energy trading portfolio. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the secure, resilient, and cost‑effective delivery of business‑critical application and infrastructure services, including trading platforms such as Endur.

The role leads the transformation of IT operations toward an automated, data‑driven operating model while safeguarding business continuity in a fast‑paced and highly volatile trading environment. It owns the IT operating plan, budget, and service lifecycle, ensuring strong governance, risk management, and control frameworks are embedded across all services.

A key focus is building and maintaining senior partnerships with Trading and Commercial leadership to design and execute a differentiated operating model that enables speed, scalability, and sustained value delivery. The role is accountable for driving operational excellence, leading a high‑performing team, and ensuring technology operations deliver measurable value to the wider business.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience leading

IT operations

within complex, business‑critical environments, preferably within

trading or energy domains

  • Strong knowledge of application and infrastructure operations, including high‑availability and mission‑critical platforms (e.g.,

ETRM systems such as Endur)

  • Familiarity with ETRM platforms such as Endur and their supporting ecosystems
  • Demonstrated experience owning IT operating models, service lifecycle management, and operational budgets
  • Deep understanding of IT governance, risk management, controls, and regulatory compliance frameworks
  • Experience embedding IT General Controls (ITGC) and managing audit and compliance requirements
  • Strong background in operational transformation, including automation, monitoring, and data‑driven performance management
  • Expertise in incident, problem, and change management processes aligned to ITIL or similar frameworks
  • Proven ability to manage and hold third‑party service providers accountable to outcome‑based performance measures
  • Strong analytical and decision‑making capabilities in high‑pressure, fast‑moving environments
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, including engagement with senior business leadership
  • Experience managing operational readiness for new demand, projects, and system changes

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Extensive experience (typically 10+ years) in IT, with significant leadership experience in operations or service management roles
  • Experience working within energy trading, commodities, or financial services environments
  • Experience managing global or distributed teams in complex organisational environments
  • Strong commercial acumen and ability to balance cost, risk, and service quality
  • Track record of delivering large‑scale operational transformation and automation initiatives
  • Advanced communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage and challenge senior stakeholders
  • Strategic mindset combined with strong execution capabilities
  • Degree or equivalent experience in IT, Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., ITIL, COBIT, Risk Management, Cloud/Infrastructure certifications)

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Own end‑to‑end IT operations across the trading portfolio, ensuring high service availability, resilience, and performance
  • Lead the transformation of operations toward an automated, efficient, and data‑driven operating model
  • Develop and manage the IT operating plan, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost optimisation
  • Ensure operational readiness for new initiatives, including assessing functional and non‑functional requirements and agreeing support models
  • Establish and maintain robust governance, risk, and control frameworks, ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal standards
  • Drive and ensure adherence to IT General Controls (ITGC) and information risk management practices
  • Lead compliance with health, safety, legal, and regulatory requirements across all IT operations
  • Build strong partnerships with Trading and Commercial stakeholders to align IT services with business priorities and growth objectives
  • Manage service providers and vendors, ensuring delivery against agreed SLAs, KPIs, and outcome‑based metrics
  • Lead, develop, and inspire a high‑performing IT operations team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
  • Drive operational excellence through performance management, service optimisation, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Oversee incident, problem, and change management processes to minimise disruption and ensure rapid resolution
  • Deliver transformation goals and strategic objectives within the operations function
