Role Description
The (Senior) IT Business Analyst – Energy Trading (m/f/d) is a fully remote role for candidates based in Portugal. You will analyse and document requirements for energy trading systems, translate business needs into functional IT specifications, and coordinate closely with business stakeholders, developers, product teams, and support functions. Key activities include process analysis, functional documentation, testing support, system enhancements, and the investigation and resolution of complex production incidents within an international agile environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse and document business and functional requirements
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, product teams, developers, and IT specialists
- Prepare functional specifications, user stories, process descriptions, and use cases
- Translate business needs into actionable requirements for software development teams
- Support system enhancements, new functionalities, and process improvements
- Prepare and coordinate test cases, user acceptance testing, and defect resolution
- Analyse complex production incidents and support root-cause analysis
- Coordinate fixes and workarounds with development and support teams
- Facilitate communication and alignment between business and IT
- Manage multiple priorities within an agile product environment
Qualifications
- Proven experience as an IT Business Analyst in energy trading, commodity trading, utilities, or a closely related environment
- Strong understanding of Energy Trading and Risk Management processes and systems
- Practical experience working with an ETRM or CTRM platform
- Knowledge of processes such as deal capture, position management, pricing, risk management, settlement, invoicing, or reporting
- Experience in requirements engineering, functional specification, and process analysis
- Experience supporting testing, defect management, and production incidents
- Familiarity with agile delivery methods and the software development lifecycle
- Experience with tools such as Azure DevOps, JIRA, or Confluence
- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder-management skills
- Ability to work independently in a remote and international environment
- Professional fluency in English
- Current residence in Portugal
