Our oil & gas client is seeking a Senior Business Systems Analyst with oil and gas industry experience and working knowledge of energy trading and risk management (ETRM) systems. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of business processes, systems analysis, and requirements management, along with exposure to trading platforms such as
ION RightAngle or Openlink Endur
. This individual will work closely with business stakeholders across trading, scheduling, operations, risk, finance, and technology to support system enhancements, process optimization, integrations, and business-critical initiatives. The candidate must be able to understand business workflows, translate functional needs into technical requirements, and support the delivery of effective trading system solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with business stakeholders across trading, scheduling, operations, risk management, accounting, and finance to understand business needs and system requirements.
- Gather, analyze, document, and validate business and functional requirements for trading system enhancements and related technology initiatives.
- Apply working knowledge of energy trading workflows and ETRM platforms, including
RightAngle and/or Endur
, to support business analysis and solution delivery.
- Analyze existing trading and operational processes to identify system gaps, inefficiencies, and opportunities for automation or process improvement.
- Translate business requirements into functional specifications, user stories, process flows, use cases, and acceptance criteria.
- Collaborate with developers, application support teams, system configurators, architects, and third-party vendors to design and implement solutions.
- Support system configuration, enhancements, interfaces, data flows, and integrations with upstream and downstream applications.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Business, Finance, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 7+ years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst, Business Analyst, or Systems Analyst in an enterprise technology environment.
- Required oil and gas industry experience
, preferably supporting trading, midstream, downstream, supply, logistics, or related energy operations.
- Working knowledge of at least one energy trading and risk management system, such as ION RightAngle or Openlink Endur.
- Understanding of energy trading business processes and the interactions between trading, operations, scheduling, risk, and finance.
- Experience supporting system enhancements, integrations, testing, and implementation activities.
