Company Overview At RocketFin, we are a leading provider of innovative financial technology solutions, specialising in deploying cutting-edge risk and trading technologies for some of the world's most complex commodities operations.
Position Overview We are seeking a Senior Beacon Engineer Quant to join a high-impact programme deploying risk and trading technology for one of the world's largest integrated energy companies — a global leader in oil, gas, renewables, and low-carbon energy trading, operating across upstream, downstream, and trading divisions at massive scale.
This is an opportunity to work at the forefront of commodities risk technology, contributing to mission-critical systems that underpin billion-dollar trading decisions.
Responsibilities
- Lead Beacon development end-to-end — design, build, and maintain complex quantitative models, scripts, and workflows within the Beacon platform, covering risk analytics, P&L, Greeks, and mark-to-market across multi-commodity portfolios.
- Quantitative modelling — develop and validate pricing models, risk metrics (VaR, sensitivities, scenario analysis), and structured trade lifecycle workflows within Beacon.
- Cross-platform integration — leverage your Endur exposure to support integration touchpoints between Beacon and the broader ETRM ecosystem, ensuring data consistency and workflow alignment.
- Stakeholder collaboration — partner closely with front-office quants, trading desks, risk managers, and technology teams to translate complex business requirements into robust technical solutions.
- Technical leadership — act as a senior voice within the engineering team, mentoring junior developers, setting coding standards, and championing best practices in Beacon development.
- Continuous improvement — proactively identify opportunities to optimise existing Beacon infrastructure, improve performance, and reduce operational risk.
Requirements
- Extensive Beacon experience — proven, hands-on expertise building and maintaining solutions within the Beacon/OpenLink Beacon platform is essential.
- Quantitative background — strong grounding in financial mathematics, derivatives pricing, or commodities risk, with the ability to implement and validate quantitative models in Beacon.
- Endur exposure — familiarity with OpenLink Endur and ETRM workflows is a valuable plus, particularly around trade lifecycle, settlements, or risk reporting.
- Commodities domain knowledge — experience in energy, oil & gas, power, or related commodity markets is highly desirable given the client environment.
- Analytical rigour — strong problem-solving capability with an ability to navigate ambiguity, debug complex systems, and deliver accurate, auditable outputs.
- Communication skills — comfortable engaging with both technical and business stakeholders, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly.
- Degree-level education in a quantitative discipline (Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, or similar). A postgraduate qualification is advantageous.
