Commercial Risk / Product Control Analyst – Energy Trading

The Role

We’re working with a leading energy trading firm looking to hire a

Commercial Risk / Product Control Analyst

to support a growing low carbon trading portfolio (Gas, Power, LNG, Emissions).

This role sits at the intersection of

front office and finance

, with a strong emphasis on

P&L reporting, valuation, and control

. You’ll partner closely with traders and play a key role in ensuring accurate reporting, robust controls, and clear insight into trading performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Own

daily P&L and position reporting

, including detailed attribution and variance analysis

• Provide clear

commentary on P&L drivers, market moves, and trading strategies

• Ensure

independent valuation and control of trading books

• Monitor

risk exposures, limits, and delegation of authority

• Review and validate

hedging activity

, including FX exposure

• Support

month-end close and financial reporting processes

• Work closely with front office to

challenge, explain, and improve P&L outcomes

Requirements

• Proven experience in

Product Control / Risk / Middle Office

within

energy trading

• Strong understanding of

P&L attribution, valuation, and controls

• Knowledge of

commodities such as Gas, Power, LNG, or Emissions

• Familiarity with

VaR and risk frameworks

• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills

Desirable:

Python / VBA / SQL, ETRM systems (e.g. Endur)
