Product Controller, Oil Trading

About the Role
A leading oil trading house is seeking a Product Controller to join its Dubai finance team. This person will provide accurate P&L reporting, risk oversight, and financial governance across physical and derivatives oil books.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce and explain daily P&L for crude and refined products trading books, including attribution analysis and variance commentary
- Independently validate trader P&L against risk system outputs; investigate and resolve breaks
- Mark and challenge valuation of physical positions, derivatives, and structured products; maintain and develop price curves
- Partner with front office on new trade structures, ensuring trades are correctly captured and accounted for
- Liaise with Risk, Operations, and Finance on control issues, system improvements, and process development
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of product control or risk experience within an oil trading house, integrated energy major, or commodity trading firm
- Direct exposure to oil trading P&L, crude, fuel oil, distillates, or derivatives is an advantage
- Strong understanding of commodity valuation methodologies, mark-to-market principles, and risk system reconciliation
- Degree-qualified in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline; professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CPA) preferred
- Experience with trading/ETRM systems an advantage
