Principal / Senior Strategy Consultant

Location: London (Hybrid). Contract Duration: 6-12 Months

Our client is looking for a visionary Principal / Senior Strategy Consultant with deepexpertise in Commodities, Gas, and Power trading and a passion for cutting-edge digital technologies. In this role, you will help our clients navigate the next frontier of trading by assessing their current digital landscape and identifying their future digital tools, technology to support their future business roadmap.

You will act as a trusted advisor to C-suite and trading desk leaders, diagnosing inefficiencies and building strategic roadmaps to transform traditional trading operations into data-driven, AI-augmented powerhouse.

Key Duties:

1. Business & Digital Assess

Maturity Mapping: Evaluate the client’s current digital, data, and analytics maturity across Front, Middle, and Back office operations (specifically focused on Gas, Power, and physical/financial Commodities).

Potential AI Opportunity Identification: Pinpoint high-value use cases for digital tools and / or AI / ML solutions.

Bottleneck Diagnosis: Identify data silos, legacy infrastructure gaps, and process bottlenecks that hinder the adoption of advanced digital/AI solutions.

1. Strategy & AI Roadmap Creation

Use Case Prioritization: Develop frameworks to prioritize AI and digital investments based on feasibility, ROI, and commercial impact.

Define how digital tools, AI solutions and tooling can service the business roadmap Vendor & Tool Evaluation:

Advise clients on "buy vs. build" decisions regarding modern digital tools, specialized AI trading software, and cloud-native data platforms.

1. Client Advisory & Lead

• Executive Advisory: Translate the business case for target state digital architecture and tooling / solutions for Senior Executives and Board members.
• Change Management: Guide clients on the operational, cultural, and data governance shifts required to successfully adopt AI tools on the trading floor.

Essential Experience & Qualifications Required:

• Domain Expertise: 8–12+ years of experience within Commodity, Gas, or Power trading (via major energy companies, trading houses, investment banks, or specialized management consultancies).
• Trading Lifecycle Mastery: A deep understanding of how Commodities Gas and Power markets operate, including scheduling/logistics, grid/pipeline constraints, risk metrics (VaR, MtM), and portfolio optimization.

Digital & AI

• Proven experience evaluating or deploying digital tools, solutions, SaaS platforms and AI/ML models, GenAI, LLMs, or predictive analytics within a trading or financial services environment.
• Strong understanding of modern data stacks (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks) and cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure) as enablers for AI.
• Familiarity with how AI interacts with traditional ETRM systems (e.g., Endur, Allegro).
• Consulting Background: Exceptional structured thinking, diagnostic skills, and the ability to articulate a clear digital transformation narrative to non-technical sta

keholders.
