Senior Power Trader / Quantitative Trader
Location: Flexible / Hybrid
Comp: $200-300k Base + Bonus
About the Company
Our client is a rapidly growing Battery Energy Storage (BESS) Developer and Operator with assets across multiple North American power markets. As they continue to expand their trading platform, they are looking to hire senior-level trading professionals to optimize and monetize a growing fleet of storage assets.
Position 1: Senior Quantitative Trader (BESS Optimization)
Responsibilities:
- Develop and deploy algorithmic trading strategies for battery storage assets across multiple ISOs (ERCOT, PJM, CAISO, MISO, SPP, ISO-NE, NYISO).
- Design and enhance optimization models for real-time and day-ahead market participation. • Build and implement virtual trading and hedging strategies to maximize risk-adjusted returns.
- Analyze market fundamentals, transmission constraints, congestion patterns, and price formation.
- Partner with developers, asset managers, and engineers to improve trading performance and asset dispatch.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in power trading, quantitative trading, or energy market analytics.
- Proven experience developing algorithmic or systematic trading strategies.
- Strong understanding of ISO/RTO power markets. • Experience with virtual trading, congestion trading, and risk management.
- Advanced quantitative skills with coding experience in Python, R, or similar tools.
Position 2: Senior Physical Power Trader
Responsibilities:
- Manage commercial optimization and trading of generation and battery assets.
- Execute physical power transactions across North American wholesale power markets.
- Develop and implement hedging strategies to manage portfolio risk.
- Analyze transmission markets, congestion, and locational price dynamics.
- Work closely with scheduling, asset management, and quantitative teams to maximize portfolio performance.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in physical power trading.
- Strong knowledge of ISO/RTO market structures and market operations.
- Experience trading in day-ahead and real-time power markets.
- Deep understanding of FTRs/CRRs, congestion, transmission economics, and portfolio hedging.
- Demonstrated track record generating P&L within wholesale power markets.
