Market Risk Analyst (Oil Trading)

Job Title: Market Risk Analyst (Oil Trading MNC - Established platform)

About the Role

We are seeking a Market Risk Analyst to join a dynamic trading environment, responsible for identifying, analyzing, and mitigating risks associated with market fluctuations in oil prices. This role works closely with traders and cross-functional teams to provide insights on risk exposure, monitor market trends, conduct stress testing and scenario analysis, and develop risk models to assess potential impacts on trading strategies.

The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical and quantitative skills, along with the ability to communicate complex risk concepts clearly to stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Manage daily price updates and forward curve maintenance

Update daily positions and P&L in Mark to Market (MTM) reports, with analysis of P&L drivers

Support the transition from Excel-based reporting to an ETRM system, including data validation and process streamlining

Monitor trading exposure and P&L against risk limits

Analyze market conditions and summarize performance for each trading team

Perform monthly reconciliation of reported MTM P&L against actual financial performance

Conduct month-end stock reconciliation

Prepare risk-related reports and statistics

Undertake other duties as assigned

Requirements

Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field

Exposure to Market Risk Management (MRM) frameworks and models, financial modelling, and Value at Risk (VaR) models is an advantage

Strong numerical sensitivity and meticulous attention to detail

Good communication and interpersonal skills

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

Able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
