Position Description :
This role forms part of JERA's growing North American Gas Trading business, which is expected to transition onto JERAGM’s trading platform. This business is wholly owned by JERA Co., Inc. and will focus on US natural gas trading, optimisation and market development across North America. Successful candidates will join during the build-out phase ahead of the business's planned operational launch.
The Business Analyst is responsible for configuring, implementing, and supporting the ETRM platform from EKA Solutions, and other supporting software used in the energy trading process such as Enverus, Plexos, cQuant, and Intercontinental Exchange (ICE). This position provides expertise in the full transaction life cycle from pre-trade through settlement and invoicing.
Key Responsibilities include but are now limited to:
- Work with the business users to gather and document business requirements and track updates and changes to insure they are meeting the business users' requirements.
- Act as the business analyst with regards to:
- Power and natural gas trading
- Trading lifecycle front, middle and back-office processes, roles and responsibilities
- Use of an ETRM platform by all parties - Commercial, Risk, Finance, Accounting
- Analyze ETRM reporting results to ensure solutions are functioning properly and results are consistent with expectations.
- Function as a liaison between IT and third-party solutions and the business to ensure that current delivery and future requirements are meeting the business needs.
- Assist in the development of test cases and work with users to perform user acceptance testing of solutions.
- Ability to analyze business problems into a potential project including understanding the business problem and developing a plan to deliver a solution.
- Becoming the subject matter expert for the ETRM processes within JERA to train and support new and existing users of the ETRM and other support systems, and troubleshoot user issues
- Note that in addition to these duties employees are required to carry out such other duties as may be reasonably required.
Key Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Mathematics or related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience delivering/ supporting ETRM solutions in a global environment with a focus on Power and Natural Gas trading life cycle. (Such as EKA, Endur, Allegro, Right Angle, etc.) including business analyst functions
- Front and middle office experience and experience training end users
- Strong understanding of the energy trading process.
- Experience with multiple ETRM platforms would be an advantage.
- Able to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under time pressure
- Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements and communicate those to the IT and application development teams.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written) and able to work effectively with people from diverse cultural backgrounds and various levels within the organization
