Role Overview
We are seeking a high-conviction
Senior Gas Trader
to join our expanding European Energy desk in Zug. This role is focused on
short-term proprietary trading
, specifically targeting the
TTF and NBP
hubs.
The ideal candidate is a disciplined risk-taker with a verifiable track record of delivering significant P&L in volatile environments. You will have the autonomy to execute proprietary strategies while leveraging our firm's deep fundamental research and high-spec ETRM infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Execute short-term proprietary strategies on the front-end of the European Gas curve (
TTF/NBP
).
Capture value through
Geographical Arbitrage
,
Time Spreads
, and
Cross-Commodity Spreads
(including
Spark Spreads
and
EUA/Carbon
interface).
Work alongside fundamental analysts to translate global supply/demand shifts (LNG flows, storage levels, and geopolitical disruptions) into actionable trade ideas.
Manage a significant trading mandate with a base-case
VaR of $1M
, with the objective of scaling based on performance.
Maintain and grow relationships with key counterparties, including majors, utilities, and financial institutions.
Technical Qualifications
5–10 years of successful proprietary trading experience within a top-tier trading house, utility, or hedge fund.
A verifiable history of generating
$10M–$20M+
annual P&L with a strong Sharpe ratio.
Expert user of
Trayport Joule
,
ICE
, and
Bloomberg
. Experience with ETRM systems (e.g.,
Endur
) is highly preferred.
Proficiency in
VBA
or
Python
for desk-level tool development and spread modeling is a distinct advantage.
Core Competencies
Ability to hold and manage large positions during periods of extreme market volatility (e.g., current Middle East geopolitical tension).
Deep understanding of the global
LNG
market and its impact on European price formation.
A self-starter who thrives in a lean, high-performance environment with minimal bureaucracy.
Education & Requirements
Degree in Finance, Economics, or a quantitative discipline.
Fluency in
English
is essential. Additional European languages (German, French, or Russian) are a plus.
Candidates with existing
Swiss B/C Permits
or those eligible for immediate relocation to Zug/Zurich.
