Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated Gas Marketing & Supply Director to support the management and optimization of our natural gas portfolio. This role will focus on pipeline transportation commitments, gas procurement, and supporting the development of new supply strategies aligned with our growing generation fleet.
The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of natural gas markets, pipeline operations, and commercial structures, along with the ability to operate in a fast-paced, infrastructure-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and optimize firm and interruptible pipeline transportation (FT/IT) portfolio across multiple regions, ensuring cost efficiency and reliability of fuel delivery.
- Lead natural gas procurement activities, including supply sourcing, contract negotiation, administration, and daily nomination oversight.
- Develop and execute gas supply and marketing strategies aligned with generation dispatch, asset optimization, and long-term portfolio growth.
- Structure, negotiate, and manage gas supply agreements, transportation contracts, and precedent agreements with producers, marketers, and pipeline operators.
- Analyze and manage basis exposure, regional pricing dynamics, and market trends to inform procurement, hedging, and portfolio optimization strategies. Monitor
- Monitor pipeline capacity, constraints, and operational conditions; proactively manage risks to ensure uninterrupted fuel supply.
- Partner cross-functionally with Development, Operations, and Power Marketing teams to align fuel strategy with asset performance and commercial objectives.
- Support project development efforts by evaluating gas supply availability, pipeline interconnects, infrastructure constraints, and long-term fuel strategies.
- Track, forecast, and optimize fuel costs, transportation expenses, and financial exposures, including supporting hedging strategies where applicable.
- Maintain compliance with pipeline tariffs, regulatory requirements, and commercial agreements.
- Develop and enhance reporting, analytics, and dashboards to monitor portfolio performance and support data-driven decision-making.
- Build and maintain relationships with key external stakeholders, including suppliers, pipelines, and market participants, to enhance market access and intelligence.
- Identify and execute opportunities to improve fuel sourcing strategies, reduce costs, and increase reliability across the portfolio.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2+ years of experience in natural gas marketing, trading, scheduling, or midstream operations.
- Familiarity with pipeline operations, nominations, and gas scheduling processes.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in IPP, power generation, energy infrastructure, or midstream gas environments.
- Knowledge of regional gas markets (e.g., Permian, Bakken, Midcontinent, Gulf Coast).
- Experience with pipeline capacity agreements and precedent agreements.
- Understanding of basis trading, hedging strategies, and gas market fundamentals.
- Experience working with ETRM systems or gas scheduling platforms.
