What’s the role
As a Crude Digital Delivery Manager / Senior Principal Engineer, you’ll be a key technical leader, empowered to shape standards in engineering and architecture, working in the Crude portfolio for Shell’s Trading and Supply business. You will specifically work across multiple product and project teams in the portfolio to create scalable, secure, and strategic systems that enable the transformation of the Crude Digital capabilities.
What you’ll be doing
You should exhibit deep technology leadership with a good balance of hands-on experience in designing and engineering technical solutions, problem solving mentality and logical thinking. This role will drive engineering leadership with end-to-end accountability for technical strategy and delivery of the products/projects within the Crude Digital portfolio. They will also have key influence, if not direct ownership for architectural leadership. You will report into the Crude and Products Senior Delivery Manager.
Strong leadership skills, including fostering collaboration, driving consensus, and effectively communicating complex technical concepts, are essential. The ideal candidate will not only lead in their area of expertise but also play a key role in shaping and transforming the role itself—identifying opportunities, driving innovation, and delivering impact that extends beyond the initial remit. As the organization grows, this role is expected to evolve, offering continuous opportunities for development, influence, and leadership.
What you bring
+ Strong domain expertise in crude trading, including physical supply chains (cargo scheduling, logistics, quality differentials) and associated financial markets (futures and derivatives) used for hedging and price discovery.
+ Substantial experience in Commodity Trading & Price Risk Management or Capital Markets / Investment Banks to bring credible externalisation of mindset and approach, ensuring cost: value competitiveness.

+ Recruit talent and support high-performing teams in both architecture and engineering.
+ Influence technical architecture, own design and standards for software products in Crude Digital portfolio.

+ Create pragmatic, implementable technical designs balancing risk, complexity, cost, and value.
+ Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders for strategic and day-to-day technical decisions.
+ Strong communication and collaboration skills with significant years of experience in trading environments.
+ Listen to and interpret needs of technical and business stakeholders, manage expectations, and facilitate discussions.
+ Be an active participant in the wider Tech Lead and engineering communities.

What we offer
The base salary range for this position is $178,000 - $266,000 per year. Individual pay will be based on various factors such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.
For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave for birthing parents, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents.
Additionally, employees are eligible for short-term disability leave for up to 26 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay as well as Long-Term Disability insurance. Shell also offers other compensation such financial reimbursement for adoption, wellness, education, and personal learning expenses, and some roles are eligible for discretionary long-term incentives. For interns, eligible benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs; participation in a 401(k) plan; and paid leave for up to 11 paid holidays.
