Job Description

At Qair, we have chosen an organization that promotes versatility among our employees and allows the company to constantly adapt to market needs.

Our corporate culture is inspired by the entrepreneurial spirit that has driven Qair since its inception. Far from traditional hierarchical management, we encourage initiative and autonomy, fostering an environment conducive to innovation and creativity.

We are an independent renewable energy company. Our 800 employees operate and build over 1.7 GW of assets in the 20 countries where we are present and are developing a pipeline of more than 35 GW.

Our culture, based on trust and mutual respect, allows our employees to thrive professionally and actively contribute to the company's success. By unleashing the potential of each individual, we boost collective performance and equip ourselves to meet the challenges of a constantly evolving market.

You will join Qair's Energy Management team, which is developing a new sales and trading activity on electricity markets. At the intersection of data, renewable asset optimization, and trading, the team drives the valuation of multi-technology portfolios (solar, wind, storage) and supports the evolution of Qair's energy model toward a more integrated, market-driven approach.

As a Data Scientist – Power Markets, you will contribute to building forecasting models, analytical tools, and market analyses that support Qair's activities in the energy markets. This role offers hands-on immersion in how electricity markets function, as well as the opportunity to apply quantitative methods to real operational challenges.

The position is based in Paris, with no travel required. Following the end of the trial period, a planned on-call arrangement will be implemented, involving one Saturday and one Sunday per month, with equivalent compensation.

You are looking for a stimulating and empowering challenge, where innovation is rewarded?

Join us and unleash your potential!

Main Tasks

The Data Scientist – Power Markets will be responsible for:

  • Collecting, structuring, and validating market data (prices, volumes, production, consumption, weather);
  • Developing short-term forecasting models (prices, renewable production);
  • Building decision-support tools for traders (dashboards, signals, alerts);
  • Contributing to the design and backtesting of short-term trading strategies;
  • Producing regular analyses on market dynamics across intraday, spot, and forward timeframes (liquidity, shape, volatility, spreads, intraday patterns);
  • Identifying and analyzing market opportunities and anomalies from data;
  • Continuously improving models and tools based on operational feedback;
  • Contributing to the integration of models into the existing ecosystem (ETRM, EMS, BI);
  • Contributing to measuring trading strategy performance (PnL, risk, KPIs).

Skills Required

The following skills are essential for the role:

  • Excellent command of Python (pandas, numpy required; scikit-learn, statsmodels a plus);
  • Strong understanding of time series models (ARIMA, probabilistic models, ML applied to forecasting);
  • Ability to quickly develop and deploy robust, interpretable models;
  • Proficiency in SQL for handling and analyzing large datasets;
  • Proficiency in Git for code versioning and team collaboration;
  • Knowledge of electricity market dynamics (price formation, intraday/spot/forward mechanisms, supply/demand, weather and grid constraints);
  • Sensitivity to financial performance tracking, risk management, and trade execution;
  • Strong analytical mindset, able to challenge market intuitions with data;
  • Ability to translate models into concrete operational impact;
  • Proficiency in professional French and English.

The following skills may help you stand out among applicants:

  • Experience in strategy backtesting or decision-making modelling;
  • Prior experience with the Polish and/or European energy market;
  • Proficiency in another language spoken in countries where Qair operates.

This role may not be suitable for you if you have no interest in energy markets or trading operations, or if you are looking for a purely technical role disconnected from renewable energy challenges.

Benefits

  • Annual gross fixed salary: €46,000 – €52,000;
  • 10% annual performance bonus;
  • Profit-sharing bonus;
  • Option to purchase Qair shares;
