X4 Technology are partnered with a Commodities Trading company undergoing a major technology transformation, moving from a traditional CTRM-centric architecture to a modern, event-driven data platform.
As part of this multi-year programme, the business is decoupling its ETRM platform to build a scalable data hub, enabling real-time integration of trading, risk and market data across the organisation.
They are looking for an experienced .NET Software Engineer to build cloud-native microservices, event-driven integrations and real-time data services that underpin critical commodities trading and risk platforms.
Responsibilities for the Contract Senior Software Engineer (Commodities)
- Design, develop and deploy cloud-native .NET microservices within Microsoft Azure
- Build event-driven integrations using Azure Event Hubs, Azure Service Bus and real-time messaging patterns
- Develop APIs, data processing services and integration components supporting commodity trading, market data and risk platforms
- Build scalable services for processing near real-time trading events and business workflows
- Deploy and manage containerised applications using Azure Kubernetes Service and Docker
- Contribute to solution architecture, ensuring highly available, resilient and scalable distributed systems
- Implement modern engineering practices including CI/CD, automated testing, monitoring and deployment automation using Azure DevOps
- Collaborate with Architecture, Infrastructure and Trading Technology teams to deliver secure, high-performance solutions
Requirements for the Contract Senior Software Engineer (Commodities)
- Strong commercial experience developing enterprise applications using .NET/C#
- Proven experience building event-driven architectures using Azure Event Hubs, Azure Service Bus or Apache Kafka
- Strong experience developing microservices, REST APIs and distributed systems (gRPC desirable)
- Experience building cloud-native applications on Microsoft Azure, including Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and Docker
- Experience with Cosmos DB, SQL Server or other relational/NoSQL database technologies
- Strong understanding of asynchronous messaging, event streaming and integration patterns
- Experience with Azure DevOps, Git, CI/CD pipelines and automated testing
- Excellent debugging, troubleshooting and performance optimisation skills within distributed environments
- Previous experience within Commodities Trading, Energy Trading, Capital Markets or other front-office trading environments would be advantageous
