We are seeking a highly experienced Commodity Trading Manager to lead and scale our physical trading operations in chemicals and bulk commodities. The role requires strong commercial acumen, end-to-end trade execution capability, and the ability to manage complex logistics and financial flows in high-volume environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end physical trading activities (sourcing, pricing, negotiation, execution, delivery)
- Lead high-volume chemical and commodity trading portfolios
- Coordinate forecasting, demand planning, and logistics operations in alignment with commercial strategy
- Oversee international trade processes including shipping, documentation, customs, and Incoterms execution
- Manage relationships with suppliers, customers, and logistics partners
- Structure and execute contracts with strong control over commercial terms and risk exposure
- Ensure alignment with banking and trade finance instruments (LC, SBLC, CAD, etc.)
- Monitor market trends, pricing benchmarks, and arbitrage opportunities
- Drive B2B sales growth and maintain key account relationships
- Track performance metrics (margin, volume, cost optimization)
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in high-volume chemical / commodity trading
- Proven physical trading experience (not only paper trading)
- Strong knowledge of logistics, international trade, and banking practices
- Hands-on experience with trade finance instruments (LCs, SBLCs, documentary collections)
- Solid B2B sales and negotiation skills
- Strong command of cost structures and margin management
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Results-driven, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and highly disciplined in follow-up
- Fluency in English (professional working proficiency required)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience trading specific commodities (e.g., sulphur, petrochemicals, fertilizers, industrial minerals)
- Familiarity with pricing benchmarks and indices (e.g., Argus, ICIS, Platts)
- Experience in emerging markets (MEA, Asia)
- Exposure to risk management tools (hedging, derivatives, VaR awareness)
- Strong network of industry contacts (suppliers, traders, buyers)
- Experience working with ERP / trading systems (SAP, CTRM tools)
- Ability to manage and develop a trading team
