Chief Risk Officer
Our client, a growing energy and commodity trading firm, is seeking a Chief Risk Officer to serve as the senior-most independent risk leader in the organization.
Chief Risk Officer Responsibilities:
- Own enterprise-wide risk management, including market, credit, liquidity, and operational risk for a physical and financial energy trading business
- Define and govern the firm's risk appetite, enterprise risk management (ERM) framework, policies, and limit structures
- Provide independent oversight and challenge to trading leadership on strategy, positioning, new products, and capital allocation
- Build, mentor, and scale a multi-disciplinary risk organization spanning market risk, credit risk, quant risk, and middle office
- Direct the firm's risk technology and model governance agenda, including ETRM/CTRM strategy, curve validation, and IPV standards
Risk Experience/Requirements:
- 15+ years of progressive risk leadership within energy or commodity trading (power, gas, LNG, liquids, environmental products, or renewables)
- Prior experience as a Chief Risk Officer, Deputy Chief Risk Officer, or Head of Risk at a trading firm, merchant trader, utility, IPP, fund, or bank commodities platform
- Deep expertise of market and credit risk at the framework level: Value at Risk (VaR), stress testing, PFE, collateral strategy, and master agreements (ISDA, EEI, NAESB)
- Knowledge of North American power markets and/or global gas and commodity markets
- Track record of building and scaling risk organizations through periods of growth
