This full-time role is remote but could alternatively be based in one of our office locations, where you will work as part of a team working Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Due to the operational nature of the propane industry, occasional schedule flexibility may be required to address service interruptions or time-sensitive projects.

Job Title: Applications Developer I

Position Summary: The Applications Developer I is responsible for supporting the design, development, integration, and maintenance of business application systems. This role works closely with business and technical teams to analyze requirements, develop software solutions, and support system enhancements and integrations.

The position applies foundational programming and analytical skills to resolve technical issues, contribute to solution design, and support production systems. The Applications Developer I participates in the full software development lifecycle including requirements analysis, development, testing, documentation, deployment support, and production issue resolution.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop working knowledge of the organization’s Energy Trade Risk Management (ETRM) application portfolio, tools, and development standards
  • Participate in requirements gathering and analysis to understand business needs and contribute to solution design
  • Assist in estimating effort, timelines, and scope for assigned development tasks
  • Design and develop software solutions aligned with business and technical requirements
  • Write, test, and maintain application code in accordance with established standards and guidelines
  • Create and maintain technical documentation that accurately reflects system design and functionality
  • Perform unit testing to validate functionality, accuracy, and error handling
  • Participate in code reviews and incorporate feedback to improve code quality and maintainability
  • Support troubleshooting and resolution of application issues, escalating when appropriate
  • Research and resolve technical issues using documentation, tools, and internal resources prior to escalation
  • Provide regular updates on work progress, risks, and potential impacts to timelines or quality
  • Assist with system analysis, functional testing, and validation of system changes
  • Support maintenance, enhancements, and modernization of existing applications
  • Assist with production support activities and operational issue resolution as needed
  • Collaborate with senior developers and IT staff to improve system performance and efficiency

Required Qualifications

  • Education and Experience*

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 1–3 years of software development experience or equivalent academic/project experience

  • Technical Skills*

  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel
  • Working technical knowledge of at least one programming language (C#/.NET preferred); 1-3 years' experience preferred
  • Basic understanding of MS T-SQL or relational database concepts, 1-3 years' experience preferred

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Microsoft Business Central or RightAngle.NET (configuration, reporting, or development)
  • Exposure to enterprise integration environments or ETRM systems
  • Familiarity with Power Automate, Microsoft Teams integrations, or PowerShell is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of network and operating system concepts

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • Primarily office-based or remote computer-based work
  • Frequent use of computer systems and standard office equipment
  • May require occasional extended hours, including evenings, weekends or holidays, to support production issues, deadlines, or system deployments
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods while performing development work
